Many American youngsters dream of playing football in high school, college, and even the pros. During the school year, football practice has to take a back seat to academics. Summer provides the opportunity to get serious about the game at a summer football camp.

summer camp footballThere are many excellent football camps located throughout the United States. Some carry the name of famous pro players from the region where the camp is located. Most cater to boys over the age of 8. Girls may be accepted at some camps. Summer football camps offer day and residential programs aimed at honing the skills of each player in his position and as part of his team. The camps compete against other camps for real competition.

Two excellent programs that offer summer football camps at multiple locations nationwide are Offense-Defense and Contact Football Camps. Both camps have excellent programs with certified coaches, some of whom are college and pro coaches during the rest of the year. Offense-Defense also has a foundation that allows some children, whose parents may not be able to afford summer football camp, to attend the camp on a grant. Both camps are full contact play and accept children from ages 8 to 18. Discounts on player’s insurance and uniforms are also available through the Offense-Defense program.

Football is such a popular sport in the United States that there are far too many camps to list here. Most offer leadership training in addition to physical training. Children have the opportunity to review different strategies and plays that can be used when they return to their school teams. Summer football camps give intramural and high school athletes an extra edge when they return to their school teams.

So if you think your son (or daughter) is a potential NFL star, consider honing their skills at a summer football camp.
